Update on Sneaker

For those of you who may not know, we boarded our dogs while we went on our vacation for spring break, on the morning we went to pick them up, they had let all the dogs out to play, and the person in charge said she only turned her back for about five minutes, sneaker had been attacked by all the dogs (they say that if one dog starts it, they all join in) they had to give her mouth to mouth to revive her.

Tues. night the doctor didn't think she would make it through the night, she needed surgery to remove some dead skin, but her levels were not good enough, and the doc said she could die if we put her under, we visited that night, justin gave her a blessing. and it was all justin could do to drag me out, It was so hard leaving her knowing that might be the last time we saw her alive. The next morning, wed. her levels had improved enough to perform surgery, so he was able to remove some dead skin, (if they don't remove it, it becomes toxic to the body, and it poisons them),and they cleaned her wounds, they looked alot better after that. thurs morning I called to see how she was doing and they said she hadn't eaten the night before or that morning,(they have an IV in but they still need her to eat) I rushed down to see if I could get her to eat My mom and dad met me there and my dad gave her a blessing, and then he was watching me with her, and thought I probably needed a blessing also, which was true, so he gave me one too. sneaker has a hard time even moving, but right after the blessing she got up and put her little paws on grandpa, and gave him love, she also reached her little head up over his shoulder and gave me a little kiss for the first time since the accident. I was so grateful for that, because it made me feel like she had forgiven me for not being there to save her from all of those dogs attacking her. after my parents left I was holding her, and offered her some of her dry dog food the kind we have at home, she slowly started eating it from my hand and she ended up eating about four small handfulls, until the doctor came to get her. Sneaker's potassium levels are high and they are tryng to get them down. Her liver levels, have gone from 1200 to 700 and her kidney levels have improved as well. Her red blood cel count was way low so the doctor came to get her to give her a blood transfusion, I was worried that she might not accept the blood, because it wasn't a perfect match, but she did accept it, I was so happy about that. The transfusion lasted for about six hours yesterday, lauren and I went to see her last night, she seemed tired but more responsive, she even growled at the doctor, and that's a good sign, that she's back to her old self. Also, after her transfusion one of the nurses little boy was eating a hot dog, and sneaker really wanted it, the little boy gave her a little, and then the doctor said, if she's eating it, give it to her, and then they went and got her about three slices of lunch meat to eat, and she did. Then they decided to mix in some meat with her dog food, and she wouldn't touch it, because it had been contaminated with dog food! Last night was the first night I felt ok to leave her, I knew she needed to rest, and I felt she would be ok through the night. I havent heard from them this morning, I will be calling and going to see her today, and let you all know. Thank you so much for all of your prayers on her behalf. I know she has felt them, and so have I. She is not just a dog, she is my baby girl!! Please continue to keep her in your prayers, because her battle to live has just begun, it will be a long process, but I just want her to get well enough to bring her home.
